A couple of weeks ago, this wonderful city held the first Grand Prix race of the year. I heard those rolling rockets inside my apartment from Wednesday to Sunday. I live about a mile and a half from the racetrack, which goes around the 5k loop at Albert Park. It’s a beautiful run when it's open to the public the other 50 weeks of the year. It’s amazing that they turn it into a Grand Prix course every year. Marc Aarons got us tickets and we went to the finals on Sunday. I’d say it’s worth it for the initial 5 minutes, but then it’s really hard to follow what’s going on. And it’s soooo loud! Wow, my virgin ears were hurting with the earplugs in.
It’s been a relaxing week so far. I’m gearing up for a trip to Tasmania next week with my “mates” Raph and Arron. I hear it’s a mini version of New Zealand, so I’m excited. We’ll be taking the wonderful Sprit of Tasmania and bringing a car with us. Leaves Port Melbourne at 9a and doesn’t get in until 7p. That’s a long boat ride!
Yesterday, I went to T’Gallant Winery for a friend’s birthday. It’s an hour outside of Melbourne, near Port Sea where I went with Mom and Dad. It’s gorgeous out that way. I woke up at noon, and was eating pizza and drinking wine for “breakfast” a couple of hours later. For dessert we went across the street to a strawberry farm. Wonderful. That’s the way every Thursday should be lived!
Did you hear the oldest Man in the world died in Montana today? He was 114 years old. His first memories are of hearing his Grandfather tell stories of the people he killed in the Civil War. The only medicine he ever took was aspirin. What a champ! I like his view on giving back. He said, “The more you do for others, the better shape you're in." It’s true, and it feels that way too.
I’ll leave you with some photos of the Grand Prix, T’Gallant Winery, and some iphone shots that you haven’t seen yet. Look for the awesome Chinese King shots and the New Zealand Menu items.
This week I bought 5 bananas for $16. They were good, but not that good. Cyclone Yassi and her floods are still having their way with the bananas market!
Oh, I forgot to give a shout out to Lauren on her birthday last week. Happy birthday, Lo!
Happy Passover, everybody!
