Reunited and it Feels So Good!

It was a Sunday.  May 22, 2011.  I’d just flown for a full day, and traveled back in time some 15 hours.  With daylight fading, I arrived at 238 Woodland Rd, Highland Park IL to a couple of souls I couldn’t get off my mind.  Copper, Izzy and I embraced in a way that can best be described by listening to this heartfelt song…

I’d have to postpone our love fest one more week as I took off to see Baby Grayson in New Haven the following morning.  Oh man is that little guy adorable!  He’s hilarious too.  I couldn’t get over the funny new faces he kept testing out.  I made sure to introduce him to exercise and nutrition, but tried not to overload him too early!  Baby G seemed pretty interested in our mostly one sided conversation about the Arab-Israeli conflict.  I am proud to announce we have quite the connection!

For 2 weeks, I got to survey all the things and people I love.  From NH, I went to NYC.  On Saturday, I flew into CHI and drove straight up to Lake Geneva.  I finally made it back to CHI on Memorial Day (where North Ave Beach was so crowded they had to close it down for safety reasons).  I spent the week working from Ari and Aaron’s EHS office, sharing Aaron’s cubicle with him.  I loved it!  It was funny to hear the morning pleasantries and office banter.

I felt very relaxed and removed while I was home.  I felt a bit like I was a hologram of myself, going through all the motions without committing to being there.  It was a nice opportunity to think about how I want to prioritize and construct my life when I come back.

I returned to my Darling St. apartment Wednesday at noon.  I tried to stay up as late as possible to get back into my Melbourne hours so I put on Monday night’s episode of the Bachelorette, made some tea, and enjoyed.  40 minutes later, I woke up on the couch, half way through the rose ceremony with my clothes swimming in rooibos and an empty glass in my hand.  I slept in the following morning, made some eggies, went for a run, ate some fresh sushi rolls for lunch, enjoyed a Melbourne latte on my way to get my haircut and felt great about being back!  I closed the night off with a workout, a yoga class, and then dinner and FIFA at Raph and Josh’s place.  I’m looking forward to these next 5 months!

I love the pictures of Baby G and GusGus!

Also, here are some pics from Melbourne’s Red Hill Market from a month ago.

Ooooh, and a whole lot-o-birthdays coming up! Happy birthday Sam, Aba, John, Anna, and Safta!
